A Saskatoon man was arrested in relation to a bear spray incident early Monday morning.

On August 26, 2024 at approximately 1:20 a.m. police observed a group of people moving in suspicious manner in the area of 21st Street West and Avenue U South.

The Air Support Unit (ASU) began monitoring the altercation from above and observed a male deploying bear spray. Ground units then attended to the scene and located the suspect; however, he fled on foot. At this time the Canine Unit was deployed and was successful in assisting other officers arrest the suspect. Upon search of his person, bear spray was located.

The suspect was treated by a paramedic at SPS detention for injuries consistent with a dog bite.

As a result, an 18-year-old man is facing charges relating to resisting a peace officer, possession of a weapon, and concealing a weapon.
