UPDATE - Charges Laid - Point Firearm / Discharged Firearm - 22nd Street West And Avenue I North

A Saskatoon man has been arrested in relation to a firearm being discharged Friday morning.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on September 1, 2024, police were on regular patrol in the 200 block of Avenue H South when they observed a man matching the description of the suspect from Friday’s firearm event.

Officers were able to place the man under arrest without further incident; however, he was found to be in possession of ammunition. As a result, a 32-year-old man is facing charges relating to discharging a firearm while being reckless as to the life or safety of another person, and numerous other firearms charges.

One woman was arrested after pointing a firearm at another person today.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m. this morning, August 30, 2024, police responded to the area of 22nd Street West and Avenue I North for a report of a woman pointing a firearm at another woman and hitting her with it. Arriving officers located the suspect and arrested her without further incident. A search of her person found an imitation firearm in the bag she was carrying.

As a result, the 36-year-old woman has been charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, assault with a weapon, and possession of false identity documents.

While attending the report of the pointed firearm, officers located a spent 9mm cartridge case on the ground nearby. Upon reviewing the video footage of a business in the area, it was determined that a confrontation had occurred at around 8:00 a.m. this morning between two men; during the confrontation, one man produced a knife while the other produced and discharged a firearm. Both men then left the area.
