A 20 year old Saskatoon man is facing a number of charges following an incident in which a pedestrian as well as vehicles were struck in a parking lot over the weekend.
At approximately 11:20 p.m. September 7, 2024, Police were called to a mall parking lot in the 3500 block of 8th Street East. Witnesses reported a white Ford F150 truck had collided with other vehicles and hit a pedestrian before leaving the scene. As they arrived in the area, officers spotted a truck matching the description, travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of traffic on 8th Street. As it approached a patrol vehicle head-on, the driver of the suspect truck jumped a curb and collided with a fire hydrant. The driver then left the vehicle on foot and fled toward officers claiming to be suffering the effects of bear spray. He was treated at scene.
Further investigation found that the truck had struck a female who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck had also collided with two vehicles.
The 20 year old male is now facing charges of Assault With a Weapon, Impaired Driving, Exceeding .08 and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
