The vehicle continued to evade police until it came to a stop in an alley near Avenue H North before the driver began to flee on foot. At this time, a police service dog was deployed and was able to successfully assist in apprehending the suspect.
As a result, a 29-year-old man was arrested and faces charges relating to evading police, dangerous driving, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so, possession of ammunition while prohibited from doing so, and possession of stolen property under $5000. The man was also found to be unlawfully at large on a Canada wide warrant.
He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries consistent with a dog bite.
