One man was taken to hospital yesterday morning, following an assault near a shopping mall.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., March 13, 2025, Patrol officers were dispatched to 21st Street East and 1st Avenue South for a reported assault in-progress. Upon arrival, Police located a 64-year-old male victim suffering from, what appeared to be, non-life threatening injuries. Paramedics attended and transported the victim to hospital.

It was reported to Police that three youths were seen approaching the victim, who was sitting on a bench at the time, becoming confrontational towards him. One individual was observed to have struck the victim multiple times, before all three suspects fled inside a mall in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South. The suspects were not located but persons of interest have been identified by Police. The suspects and victim are not believed to be known to each other.

The investigation is ongoing.
