Three people were arrested over the weekend in connection to separate incidents of bear spray deployments.

Shortly before 8:00 a.m., March 14, 2025, patrol responded to a weapons-call in the 500 block of Avenue X South after it was reported two youth, ages 7 and 8, were suffering from the effects of bear spray. Upon police arrival, two more victims were identified, along with a suspect who was in possession of a can of bear spray. An 18-year-old man is charged with Assault (x4), Carrying Concealed Weapon, and Possession of Dangerous Weapon.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., March 14, 2025, police were dispatched to a robbery-in-progress at a store in the 3000 block of Clarence Avenue. It was reported that a woman had stolen numerous items and threatened a loss prevention officer with a can of bear spray. Police located the woman a short distance away and took her into custody. She was found to be in possession of bear spray and the stolen items. The 19-year-old is charged with Robbery, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, and Carrying Concealed Weapon.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., March 16, 2025, a bus driver reported that bear spray had been deployed towards a passenger. The victim and suspect had fled prior to police arrival. A short while later, a second report was received that several youths entered a business in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South suffering from the effects of bear spray. Further investigation located the suspect, a 15-year-old female. She is charged with Assault with a Weapon (x7), Possession of Dangerous Weapon, Carrying Concealed Weapon, and breaching court-imposed conditions.
