An officer sustained minor injuries during a traffic stop, last night.

On April 6, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Patrol officers observed an SUV being driven erratically in the 400 block of 2nd Avenue South. A traffic stop was conducted in the 400 block of 20th Street East. Police believe the driver and passenger had switched seats prior to being pulled over. When the male passenger, who was believed to be the initial driver, was asked to exit the vehicle, he became agitated. An officer attempted to remove the man from the vehicle but the suspect drove away, dragging the officer for a short distance before coming to a stop. The male suspect was then apprehended and arrested without further incident. He was believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant.

A 23-year-old man is charged with Assaulting an Officer, Obstruction and Driving While Prohibited.
