One man has been arrested and police are continuing to investigate following an aggravated assault and robbery yesterday morning.

At around 8:45 a.m. on April 16, 2025, police were called to an apartment building in the 1900 block of 22nd Street West for a report of an unknown problem. Upon arrival, officers located a woman suffering from serious but what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital by Medavie Health Services West for further treatment of her injuries. Continued investigation led officers to reviewing video evidence where it was observed that a group of two men and two women assaulted and robbed the victim of her property; it is unknown if the suspects and victim were known to one another.

One of the suspects, a 42-year-old man, was identified by police and found to already be in SPS Detention on unrelated charges. Officers attended to the Detention area of the SPS HQ and further charged him with aggravated assault and robbery.

Members of the Serious Assault Unit are continuing to investigate.
