A youth male was arrested following a report of discharged bear spray on Friday night.

At around 9:30 p.m. on May 9, 2025, police were called to the 100 block of 2nd Avenue North for a report of someone being bear sprayed. Upon arrival, officers found a youth victim suffering from the effects of bear spray. Continued investigation led officers to locating a person matching the suspect’s description on a city bus in the 2400 block of 22nd Street West; a can of bear spray was located under the seat.

As a result, the 16-year-old male has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon to commit an offence, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, and possession of stolen property under $5000. This incident is not believed to be random.
