Two men were arrested following a report of a physical altercation this morning.
At around 9:30 a.m. today, June 17, 2025, police were called to the 200 block of Avenue V South for a report of two men engaged in a physical altercation; one was reported to have a machete and the other was pointing a firearm. Upon arrival, officers issued commands to the men and effected their arrests; an imitation firearm and two bladed weapons were seized from their persons. One of the men had been cut by the machete and was transported to hospital by paramedics for treatment. The altercation is believed to have begun over a property transaction.
As a result, a 64-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for the purpose of an offence while a 25-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, and failure to comply with court-imposed conditions.
