Arrest - Evade Police / Drug Trafficking

One man was arrested following an evade police incident early this morning.

At around 1:40 a.m. on June 19, 2025, an officer on Patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Diefenbaker Drive. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle at Vanier Crescent; however, it did not stop for police and began to evade. The Air Support Unit took over following the vehicle’s movements while officers on the ground positioned themselves to deploy a tire deflation device; the vehicle came to a stop at 21st Street West and Avenue V South where the driver then began to flee on foot. Following a short foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended by a police service dog (PSD). Upon search of both the vehicle and suspect, officers located cocaine.

As a result, the 28-year-old man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle being pursued by police while failing to stop, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5000.
