The Saskatoon Police Serious Assault Unit is investigating an earlier incident involving a stolen vehicle.
At 7:53 a.m., July 9, 2025, it was reported that a F550 was conducting sewer work in the area of Wiggins Avenue and Cascade Street when a man stole the vehicle. Police located the vehicle, however the driver refused to stop. At several different points during the evade police incident, the suspect attempted, and in two incidents, successfully struck police vehicles. During the incident, two members discharged their service-issued firearm. As the suspect vehicle exited southbound off Circle Drive onto the Valley Road off ramp, it was intentionally struck by a police vehicle and immobilized. The suspect was extricated from the vehicle but was not compliant with officers. The male was eventually taken into custody shortly after 8:30 a.m.
The suspect, a 32-year-old male, was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries consistent with a dog bite.
Before the evade police incident, investigators determined that around 6:40 a.m., the suspect assaulted a taxi operator, stole their vehicle, and then struck a convenience store in the 1500 block of 22nd Street. The suspect then entered the store, stole an undisclosed amount of cash, and deployed bear spray before fleeing on foot.
This incident remains under investigation by members of the Serious Assault Unit. Charges are still being determined at this time.
