A 32 year old Saskatoon man is facing charges following an incident involving bear spray and a machete.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., July 15, 2025, Police were called to the 900 block of 22nd Street West where a person had been bear sprayed. The responding officer located three males on bicycles nearby, one of whom appeared to be concealing a weapon in his waistband and refused to stop. The officer left his vehicle and began pursuing the suspect on foot to the 1300 block of 23rd Street West. As he attempted to make the arrest, the suspect began reaching for the machete he was carrying. The officer deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon, however the male began brandishing the weapon and threatening both the officer and himself. A second officer arrived on scene and the male was successfully taken into custody.

The man is now facing charges of; Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resisting Arrest and Assaulting a Peace Officer. He was also wanted on outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.
