One man has been arrested following an assault on a police officer yesterday afternoon.
At around 4:00 p.m. on September 3, 2025, police were called to an establishment in the 400 block of 21st Street East for a report of a man refusing to leave and threatening staff. Upon arrival, the man refused to comply with the verbal commands of a police officer and began punching the Constable in the head; he then forcefully removed the officer’s bike helmet and began striking him with it. In an ongoing attempt to gain compliance from the man, the officer delivered multiple strikes with a baton and discharged oleoresin capsicum spray; commonly referred to as pepper spray. The struggle continued onto the patio where the man raised a large metal stool in an attempt to strike the officer with it; a conducted energy weapon was then deployed and the man was taken into custody without further incident. The Constable was not seriously injured as a result of the struggle.
As a result, the 44-year-old Saskatoon man was charged with assault on a police officer engaged in lawful duties, assault on a police officer with intent to resist, and assault with a weapon.
