One man has been arrested following an armed robbery yesterday afternoon.

Just before 3:00 p.m. on September 4, 2025, police were called to a financial institution in the 200 block of 19th Street East for a report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had entered the institution, threatened staff with an axe, and stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area. Officers obtained video evidence and began searching for the suspect.

Then, at around 6:15 p.m. that evening, police received a report of an intoxicated man in the 900 block of Main Street East. Upon arrival, officers located a male laying on the ground with an open backpack containing a hatchet beside him. Officers later confirmed this weapon to be the same as the one used in the robbery and matched the suspect’s description to that of the suspect in the video evidence obtained earlier in the day.

As a result, the 46-year-old man was arrested and charged with robbery (x2) and failure to comply with court-imposed conditions.
