A former music teacher has been charged following a report of a historical sexual assault.
On August 20, 2025, the Saskatoon Police Service Sex Crime Unit laid historical sexual assault charges against former music teacher Raymond Eldon McHargue, age 87, who was reported to have sexually assaulted at least one youth male student between the years of 1984 and 1988. McHargue moved to Saskatoon in 1977 and began teaching piano and organ lessons that same year at a music store in Saskatoon and in his private home on Churchill Drive. He had been teaching piano and organ lessons until 2020.
As a result, Raymond Eldon McGargue has been charged with committing an act(s) of gross indecency, sexual interference with a person under the age of 14, and sexual assault. McHargue will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on September 11, 2025.
Investigators with the Sex Crime Unit believe there may be additional victims in the community. Sexual assault allegations are not bound by a statute of limitation. Sexual assault allegations can be investigated and considered for prosecution regardless of how many years have passed since the offence occurred. Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by McHargue is encouraged to report the abuse to their local police or by calling the Saskatoon Police Service directly at 306-975-8300.
