Two men have been arrested following an evade police incident that led to several weapon seizures.
Shortly before 1:00 a.m. on November 17, 2025, police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of 19th Street West and Avenue R South when it fled at a high rate of speed; the officer immediately disengaged from the evade police incident. Other officers later observed the vehicle in the area of Avenue W North and 33rd Street West where a tire deflation device was successfully deployed. The vehicle continued with all tires deflated until it was later located abandoned at the intersection of 33rd Street West and Matheson Drive. A track using a police service dog led to an address in the 1000 block of Macklem Drive where two suspects were located and arrested. Following continued investigation, a search of the vehicle located a loaded sawed-off shotgun, multiple rounds of ammunition, an airsoft grenade launcher and airsoft grenade, a hunting knife, an expandable baton, and identification belonging to the suspects. A dog belonging to the registered owner of the vehicle was also located inside; further investigation found that the vehicle had been stolen with the dog inside shortly prior to the evade police incident beginning. The dog was not believed to be injured and was returned to its owner.
As a result, two men, age 27 and 39, have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5000 and numerous weapons-related offences. The 27-year-old man was also charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, evading police, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
