One man has been arrested following a report of an armed person entering a business this morning.

At approximately 11:00 a.m. today, February 20, 2025, police were called to a business in the 1700 block of Preston Avenue North for a report of a man entering with a firearm. Staff of the business were directed to exit through the back door as officers instructed surrounding businesses to shelter in place. The Tactical Support Unit responded with an armoured rescue vehicle and was effective in calling the suspect out of the business without further incident. A search of his person found three imitation firearms and a can of bear spray.

As a result, the 24-year-old man has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon, and failure to comply with court-imposed conditions (x2).
