A man is facing charges after stealing a vehicle and fleeing from police on Saturday night.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., February 28, 2026, police received a report that a black Nissan Rogue was stolen from the 2100 block of 8th Street East. The stolen vehicle was located on Oliver Crescent by the SPS Air Support Unit before it fled from police at a high rate of speed. For approximately 30 minutes, ASU observed the vehicle driving erratically, including striking several parked and unoccupied vehicles before eventually stopping in the 1300 block of 8th Street East and fleeing on foot. With the assistance of the canine unit, he was taken into custody before being transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The 40-year-old man is charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle, Prohibited Operation of a Conveyance, Fail to Stop for Police, Dangerous Driving, Impaired Driving, and Possession of Methamphetamine. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants. (Court Info # 991331626, 991331625).
