UPDATE: Charges Laid - Aggravated Assault - 5th Avenue North And 24th Street East

Saskatoon Police have arrested and charged a man with aggravated assault relating to the stabbing of a 70-year-old woman on Monday.

On July 7, 2026 at around 2:45 p.m., police received a report relating to the stabbing of the 70-year-old woman the day prior. Call information outlined that the suspect was observed walking southbound on 4th Avenue.

Responding officers located a male matching the suspect description in the area of 4th Avenue North between 23rd Street and 24th Street. He was arrested without further incident shortly after.

As a result, the 26-year-old man has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Robbery.

Police are investigating after a 70-year-old woman was stabbed Monday afternoon.

At approximately 2:15 p.m. on July 6, 2026, police were called to the intersection of 5th Avenue North and 24th Street East for a report of a stabbing. It was reported that a woman was stabbed by an unknown male who attempted to take her bag.

Arriving officers located a 70-year-old woman being treated on scene by paramedics for what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries consistent with a stabbing. She was transported to hospital for further medical treatment. Responding officers also searched the surrounding area for the suspect but were not able to locate him.
