Two male youths are facing charges following an assault and bear spray incident over the weekend.
On August 22, 2026 at approximately 3:10 a.m., police were called to the 600 block of Spadina Crescent East for a report on an injured person.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 55-year-old man and a 49-year-old man who had been the victims of a bear spray incident. The 49-year-old man was also assaulted. He was transported to hospital by paramedics with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries for further medical treatment.
Shortly after, officers located a group of people matching the suspect descriptions. A male and female both ran from police, while two additional males and females did not run and were detained. The female who ran was apprehended shortly after. One of the males was found to be in possession of bear spray.
As a result, a 15-year-old male has been charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer and breaching court-imposed conditions. A 17-year-old male youth has been charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon (x2);
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon; and
- Possession of a Weapon.
Both male youths were scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on August 24, 2026.
