The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Melville resident with a child exploitation offence.

On August 6, 2026, the Saskatchewan ICE Unit executed a Search Warrant at a home in Melville. Electronic devices were examined at scene and also seized by investigators.

As a result of the investigation, 22-year-old Kody Bassingthwaite was arrested and charged on August 6, 2026 with the following:

• 1 Count - Possession of Child Abuse and Exploitation Material

Bassingthwaite made his first court appearance on September 21st, 2026 and was released on court-imposed conditions. His next court date is set for October 19, 2026 in Melville Provincial Court.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the Saskatchewan RCMP, Regina Police Service and Saskatoon Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material.
