Arrests - Disturbance / Assault P.O. - 200 Block Primrose Drive

Three youths were arrested following an assault on a police officer responding to a report of a missing youth yesterday.

At around 4:30 p.m. on February 19, 2026, police were called to a city facility in the 200 block of Primrose Drive for a report of a missing youth. Upon arrival, an officer located the missing youth with a group of others within the facility. While addressing this group, an individual from another group of youth nearby was beginning to confront an employee of the facility. As the officer approached to de-escalate the situation, the individual confronting the employee became aggressive and began assaulting the officer. Several other youths then joined in the assault and a police-issued carbine magazine became dislodged from the officer’s body armour. One of the suspects then stole the magazine and fled. During the assault, the officer was able to draw their conducted energy weapon which caused the youths to retreat. The officer then began arresting the 15-year-old male who initiated the assault while the others fled. Upon search of his person, he was found to be in possession of a knife. Additional units arrived in the area where they located and arrested a 14-year-old female who was believed to be involved in the assault. Further investigation led officers to an address in the 300 block of Streb Crescent where a 16-year-old male was arrested and the stolen magazine was recovered.

As a result, both males and the female are facing an assortment of charges including assaulting a police officer, obstructing a police officer, possession of a prohibited device (carbine magazine) without a license, robbery, and weapons-related offences.
