The Saskatoon Police Service and Saskatoon Fire Department are currently conducting a coordinated search of the South Saskatchewan River north of the University Bridge that extends beyond the Canadian Pacific Railway Bridge for missing person Derick Sarazin.
Derek Sarazin was reported missing on November 23, 2024. As a result of continued investigation, police believe it is possible Derek may be in the South Saskatchewan River. Investigators do not believe foul play to be a factor in this investigation and there is no risk to public safety.
A significant presence of emergency services personnel exists near the weir and members of the public are asked to avoid the area. An update will be provided upon suspension of the search or new information becoming known. Due to the size of the search area and winter weather conditions, it is possible that this search may span multiple days.

The Saskatoon Police Service is requesting public assistance in locating a missing 48 year old male.
Derek Sarazin was last known to be at his residence on November 22, 2024 at approximately 4:00 pm. Family of Derek feel that he may currently be in a vulnerable state.
Derek is described as approximately 5'10", 220 lbs with a medium build, brown/grey short hair and brown eyes. Derek may be wearing a light to medium grey jacket with four snap-closure pockets on the front and likes to walk along the east and west side of the riverbank.
