The Saskatoon Police Service and Saskatoon Fire Department have suspended a search of the South Saskatchewan River for missing person Derek Sarazin; however, the investigation into his disappearance remains open. Anyone with information believed to be relevant to locating missing person Derek Sarazin is asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300 or report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Members of the public are thanked for allowing space for emergency personnel to conduct this search.

The Saskatoon Police Service and Saskatoon Fire Department are currently conducting a coordinated search of the South Saskatchewan River north of the University Bridge that extends beyond the Canadian Pacific Railway Bridge for missing person Derick Sarazin.
Derek Sarazin was reported missing on November 23, 2024. As a result of continued investigation, police believe it is possible Derek may be in the South Saskatchewan River. Investigators do not believe foul play to be a factor in this investigation and there is no risk to public safety.
A significant presence of emergency services personnel exists near the weir and members of the public are asked to avoid the area. An update will be provided upon suspension of the search or new information becoming known. Due to the size of the search area and winter weather conditions, it is possible that this search may span multiple days.
